5what a difference!Jul 29, 2009
By w
I have blonde hair that, because of the chlorinated, hard tap water where I live, gains a slight green tint (probably more noticeable to me than to anyone else) and becomes dull and very un-shiny. After using this product, as I call it 'the de-greener', my hair becomes very shiny again and looks very noticeably brighter and blonder. I always get comments on my hair after I use it. It gets rid of all the mineral and chlorine build up and restores my hair to it's natural color and shine. When my hairdresser first started using it on me I had highlights so it also works on color treated hair. I just buy it online now and take it in to my hairdresser when I need it done (needs a bonnet hair dryer.) Really makes a difference!

5Malibu 2000 is the best hair clarifying teastment I have usedApr 24, 2008
By Barbara J.
My hair is very straight and I take a lot of medication. I use the Malibu 2000 just before a perm. It really works great. My perm would not take or fall out right away with out the Malibu. I have tried other clarifying treatments but I like the Malibu 2000 the best.
My sister is a hair dresser and she uses and sells Malibu 2000 in her salon in California.

1I seem to be the only person this happened to, but have to warn peopleOct 20, 2011
By Robyn Landis "author and activist"
This product gets rave reviews all over the web, and a pretty thorough search (for my purposes of trying to figure out what to do about my problem) did not unearth any stories like mine. But it happened to me, so I thought people should know...

My stylist used Malibu Crystal Gel on my hair as a pre-treatment to lift mineral buildup. I do live in a very hard water area. After the Malibu treatment was washed out my hair had a WAD of MATTED HAIR the size of my fist from ends to nape. It's not TANGLED, it's a SOLID impacted BRILLO WAD. Like a ROCK! HORRIBLE.

THey worked on it for four hours with more Malibu, conditioners, etc and picked away at it (i'm sure destroying it as they did--I'm not sure how my hair could come out of that hairball OK) and got some out, but the core ball of wad is still there, almost size of an egg. They and Malibu are mystified. At home I tried vinegar, mayo, and more conditioner. No go. It's solid. I'm about to try WD-40, but other than that, from everything I read online, mats--like dreads--need to be cut off.

The theory is that maybe the product lifted so much mineral out partway that it just globbed up like glue and gummed my hair together. But it shouldn't do that, if it is designed to life buildup and make hair LESS tangled. My hair is not weird. It was long, wavy, fine. Yes, dry and porous, but well cared for. It was actually in the best shape it's ever been.

I am SICK about it. My hair was looking amazing and now I might have to get 5 inches of it cut off due to this hairball. I worked SO HARD nourishing it back to health and it took so long, and now it seems I may lose it all.

The stylist called Malibu and they had never heard of this before and had no idea what to do. None of their suggestions worked. It may never have happened before, but it happened to me. I would NEVER use this product again.

1Not for grey or white hair!Jul 15, 2010
By Janice
I didn't use this product because, after buying it, with the shipping cost being greater than the $5 price of the product, I saw on the package that it is not recommended for grey or white hair. I am 58 and do have grey/white hair. Disappointed that I didn't know that before spending the money.
