Having used American crew Fiber and D:fi Extreme hold styling creme (also owned by American Crew), the bar this product had to reach was already at the top. Usually I have shortish hair, which is where both Fiber and this product perform best. I prefer the look and texture of this product, however it would take a miracle to beat American Crew Fiber in terms of smell... But it does. This has a caramel sort of smell, whereas whilst Fiber also has a delightful smell, it is a typical citrus smell.
On short hair the hold is great, the product really is matte, and the texture is great. On medium hair it also works well, with good hold and obviously a matte finish. However my hair is kind of fine, so I use the LS&B hair thickening and strengthening shampoo as well, but still find that this product can weigh my hair down too much, meaning it goes flatter and flatter the longer my hair gets and the longer it's in my hair. For people with thick hair this will not be a problem at all, but for those also with fine hair you should keep it short or short-medium, or your hair will not go upward. Of course this doesn't matter if you don't put your hair up.
